Jahovour. HETC to be fined: Meter readings have been falsified

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia is set to fine the "Armenia Electric Networks" company. The daily newspaper "Jahovour" has learned that a working group established based on an order from the commission's president on April 30 of this year conducted monitoring in the "Ararat", "Ashtarak", and "Abovyan" electrical networks from May 4 to 8. This was aimed at investigating potential surcharges of electricity delivered to individual consumers by the HETC.

As a result of the monitoring, several violations were discovered. The newspaper was informed that 720 consumer commercial accounting devices were inspected, and actual readings were recorded which were compared with the meter readings recorded by the company's employees in the period from May 1-3 using reading fix blank forms.

It was found that the readings recorded by HETC employees for 33 meters from May 1-3 were higher than those read by the working group from the same meters during the period of May 4-8. Consequently, the commission intends to fine the company an amount of 10 million drams in the July 8 session. Whether HETC will appeal the commission's decision remains to be seen.
