Fatal Accident Outside Mega Mall: Couple Crossed at Unauthorized Area

On July 3, a fatal accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 10:15 PM, 32-year-old Ashot Avetisyan, a resident of Yerevan, ran over two pedestrians who were crossing the street at an unauthorized area near the Mega Mall shopping center in Gay Street with his Nissan vehicle, license plate 69 AV 669.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the driver did not flee the scene and called for an ambulance via the emergency services number 1-03. Medical staff who arrived promptly at the scene transported the injured individuals to the number 1 university hospital with critical diagnoses. The police are currently working to establish the identities of the injured.

The driver underwent a sobriety test at the scene, which confirmed that he was sober. Eyewitnesses stated that the victims were a couple. While investigators were working at the scene, a report came from the hospital that one of the injured, 41-year-old Arthur Sh., had died without regaining consciousness.
