Children Delayed While Following Animals: Details on the Tragic Drowning Incident at Sarsang Reservoir

The 11 and 14-year-old children who drowned at Sarsang Reservoir were residents of Upper Horatag village in Artsakh and were neighbors. This was reported to NEWS.am by Hayk Bakhshanyan, the head of the Martakert administration, providing details of the tragic incident that occurred yesterday.

"They went after their animals and got delayed. Family members went searching for them; one of them, an 11-year-old, was found dead, while we are still searching for the other one and haven't found them yet. We can't understand how they drowned; they were still dressed, and if they had gone swimming, they would have taken their clothes off," stated the head of the administration.

Earlier, it was reported that on July 3 at 21:20, information was received that underage residents of Martakert's Upper Horatag community, E.A., born in 2009, and D.S., born in 2006, had drowned. The search and rescue team from the Chakhpar unit has joined the search efforts. The body of E.A. was discovered and transported by an ambulance to the Getavan community hospital. D.S. has not yet been found. Rescue operations are ongoing.
