Shooting Incident in Vanadzor: Criminal Case Initiated
The Investigation Committee of Armenia is currently conducting an inquiry to ascertain all circumstances surrounding the attempted murder that took place in Vanadzor. Preliminary reports indicate that on July 3, 2020, around 3:00 AM, an individual allegedly involved in a crime opened fire with a firearm illegally possessed, targeting a 28-year-old resident of Vanadzor with intent to unlawfully deprive him of life, resulting in physical injuries. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the crime was not completed as the injured young man was transported to a hospital where he received medical assistance.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Investigation Committee’s Vanadzor regional investigative department under Article 34-104, Part 1 (attempted murder) and Article 235, Part 1 (illegally acquiring, possessing, transporting, or carrying weapons, military supplies, explosives or explosive devices) of the Criminal Code of Armenia, with an investigative team established.
Urgent investigative and procedural actions are ongoing, including site examinations, seizures, and the appointment of forensic and ballistic examinations, along with witness interrogations. Measures are being taken to identify the individual involved in the alleged crime, locate them, and present them to the prosecuting authority. The pre-trial investigation continues.
