An Exceptional Decision Made in Armenian Football Today: President of HFF

The President of the Football Federation of Armenia, Armen Melikbekyan, has made a statement regarding the suspension of the First League championship and the disqualification of 5 clubs and 58 individuals.

“Dear representatives of the football family, fellow citizens, an exceptional decision has been made in Armenian football today — for the first time at an institutional level, a fight against match-fixing has started. This process should be continuous, and in any case, the Football Federation of Armenia and I personally are committed to the continuity of this initiated process. A decision has been made regarding those clubs for which the HFF has received substantiated, irrefutable evidence from international organizations and law enforcement agencies. The evidence we have received from our international partners will be forwarded to the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia. This process will not end here; an expert group established in the HFF will work to uncover all possible cases.

Additionally, this year, a licensing system for First League clubs has been implemented, which will help prevent the emergence of clubs with unknown origins. Our aim is to eradicate corruption and the system of match-fixing in Armenian football. We thank everyone who has collaborated with the HFF in recent months,” the statement reads.
