The Prosecutor General Awards Close Associates

Despite the fact that July 1 is the Day of the Employees of the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, it was not celebrated with the same grandeur as in previous years due to the coronavirus situation. However, the pandemic did not prevent many prosecutors from the Prosecutor General's Office from being awarded. Moreover, the newspaper "Zhoghovurd" learned that the awarded prosecutors are not random individuals.

On the occasion of Prosecutor's Office Employees' Day, the "Mkhitar Gosh" medal was awarded to Arsen Martirosyan, the head of the Department for the Oversight of Pre-Trial Proceedings in the Special Investigation Service of the Prosecutor General's Office; Armen Panosyan, the head of the Department for the Oversight of Pre-Trial Proceedings in the National Security Service of the Prosecutor General's Office; and Gurgen Hakobyan, the head of the Division for the Oversight of Particularly Important Cases in the Military Prosecutor's Office.

Who are they? Arsen Martirosyan has close ties with Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan and was appointed as the head of the oversight department of particularly important cases at the Prosecutor General's Office after being dismissed from the post of prosecutor in Lori Province on August 22, 2019. Furthermore, he is the prosecuting attorney in the criminal case against the second President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.

Armen Panosyan, who was awarded the "Mkhitar Gosh" medal, is the prosecutor overseeing the criminal case against the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan. Perhaps the "Mkhitar Gosh" medal was also awarded to him for taking on the responsibility of holding Tsarukyan accountable.

The third individual awarded with another medal, Gurgen Hakobyan, is also among Artur Davtyan's close associates. Moreover, according to rumors circulating in the Prosecutor's Office, his award is not coincidental either. Sources from law enforcement have indicated that Gurgen Hakobyan is being considered for the position of head of the Military Police. It should be noted that Acting Chief of Police Aleksan Aghajanyan has 19 days left in his tenure, and it is not excluded that there will be changes.
