Postponement of Appeals in Tsarukyan Case

Postponement of Appeals in Tsarukyan Case

The hearings of the appeals in the case of the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, have been postponed at the RA Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Mkhitar Papoyan. The postponement occurred because some of the appeals had not yet arrived at the court.

Yerevan Sargsyan, one of Tsarukyan's lawyers, informed journalists about this today, July 2, in front of the RA Court of Appeals. He stated that the court session has been rescheduled for July 7 at 11:00 AM.

“Since some of the appeals were sent via mail, they have not yet reached the court,” he said.

Another lawyer, Samvel Dilbandyan, added that the prosecuting side was not familiar with their appeals. “We have verified that the appeal had already left the post office, but it has not yet reached the court. Our appeal pertains to the reasonable suspicion and our objections to the prosecution’s appeal concerning the grounds for the measures of restraint,” he noted.

He emphasized that there is no reasonable suspicion in the criminal case, and it has not been proven. “There are insufficient factual data to confirm the existence of reasonable suspicion,” he stated.
