Director of 'Maratuk Cultural Center' Accused of Large-Scale Embezzlement

As a result of extensive investigative and procedural actions conducted by the investigative department of the Yerevan Investigative Committee in the Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts, several circumstances related to the large-scale embezzlement by the director of the 'Maratuk Cultural Center' community organization have been established.

According to the data obtained during the investigation, the director of the 'Maratuk Cultural Center' took over the post on January 14, 2013, gaining the status of a responsible official carrying out organizational, managerial, and administrative functions. With the unified intent of continuously embezzling community monetary funds, he appointed his relatives to various positions within the organization. Despite their failure to attend work and perform their functional duties, he used the powers entrusted to him over the property to instruct the chief accountant to calculate and transfer sums of money every month equivalent to the established salary to their bank accounts. This resulted in significant property damage to the community of Yerevan amounting to 6,531,934 Armenian Drams.

With a sufficient combination of evidence obtained, charges have been brought against the director of the 'Maratuk Cultural Center' under the first sub-clause of the third part of Article 179 of the RA Criminal Code (embezzlement or misappropriation). A signature bond has been chosen as a measure of restraint, ensuring he does not leave.
