Babken Tunyan Observes a Slowing Down of Economic Decline

The chairman of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, Babken Tunyan, notes that despite a recorded decline in economic activity indicators in April and May of this year compared to the same periods last year due to the coronavirus situation, the pace of decline has weakened in May.

According to Armenpress, Tunyan expressed this opinion during an online discussion organized by the Economic Journalists' Club. The deputy recalled that currently a 2% economic decline scenario is in place, based on which changes have been made to the budget law.

"If we look at the dynamics of April and May of this year, we see that there is a decline in April compared to the same month last year, and a decline in May compared to May of last year as well. However, the pace of decline has weakened, with certain sectors reopening and starting to operate in May. I believe that in June this pace of decline will further weaken," said Tunyan.
