All Freight Trucks Should Be Weighed to Prevent Road Damage: Pashinyan
Despite the extensive construction of roads, there is a significant issue regarding their protection in Armenia. This was highlighted during the government meeting today, with the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, raising the alarm.
He noted that trucks weighing 30 tons and more, especially in summer, damage the quality of the asphalt while passing through these roads. The minister stated that there is a need for a regulatory mechanism.
The Minister of High-Tech Industry, Hakob Arshakyan, also mentioned that in the past, when he was in charge of the transport sector, he had discussions with the Russian side regarding similar regulations for weighing freight trucks.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan responded by asserting that all freight trucks must be weighed on the roads to prevent damage. He indicated that for Armenia, this would require weighing stations at just a few points.
