2301 Individuals Fined for Not Wearing Masks, 70 for Lack of ID
As part of efforts to enforce pandemic regulations, a total of 2827 reports have been compiled as of July 1, with 1198 in Yerevan and 1629 in the provinces. This was stated by Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan during a government meeting.
"Out of the reports, 2301 pertain to individuals not wearing masks, 70 to the absence of identification documents, 10 to taxi drivers or passengers not wearing masks, 442 to passengers and drivers in vehicles with up to 7 seats not wearing masks, 3 for violations by entities engaged in economic activities, and 1 for violating self-isolation rules," said the police chief, as reported by Armenpress.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed disappointment over the number of fines being issued. "But our goal is not to fine people, rather to utilize all resources to seek out and ensure that no citizen should be fined," emphasized the Prime Minister.
Arthur Asoyan, head of the coordination office for inspection bodies, noted that as of yesterday, 884 inspections had been conducted, revealing violations at 40 businesses, which indicates positive dynamics compared to the previously recorded 200-300 violations. "Re-checks were also carried out. Violations in the transportation sector continue, particularly regarding drivers transporting more passengers than permitted," he added, mentioning that other requirements, such as the availability of hand sanitizer and the application of markings, have been enforced.
