We Should Have Said: Let People Not Die from Coronavirus, But from Hunger? Pashinyan on Job Losses Due to COVID-19

During the month of April, 70,000 jobs were lost in Armenia, and the government was set to address this issue. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement while responding to one of the questions during today’s press briefing.

“We should have said: let people not die from coronavirus, but from hunger?” Pashinyan remarked.

The Prime Minister noted that as a result of their policies, 50,000 jobs have been restored in May, but this same policy also led to an increase in the number of infections.

At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized that the main problem in fighting the coronavirus in Armenia now is to ensure that no person in need of medical care is left without assistance. He listed the upcoming medical centers that will join the fight against the coronavirus: Spitak Medical Center with 100 beds, Martuni Medical Center with 50 beds, and Medline Medical Center with 60 beds.
