Court Takes on Criminal Case of Vladimir Gasparyan and Former Police Officials
The criminal case against former Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan and other former high-ranking officials of the police has been accepted for proceedings. The case is being examined by Judge Vardan Grigoryan of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction. This was reported by 24news.am, noting that the information was obtained from the Judicial Information System.
According to the indictment, Vladimir Gasparyan, who served as the head of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia from 1997 to 2011, and subsequently as the Deputy Minister of Defense, mismanaged property of significant value entrusted to him. Having been aware that three servicemen from military unit 20440 of the Ministry of Defense failed to perform their duties and did not attend the military unit, he took no measures, resulting in the embezzlement of a large amount of state funds during that period.
The indictment states that from 2011 to 2018, while serving as the head of the police under the government of Armenia and acting as a representative of the authorities, Gasparyan engaged in personal interests and misused his official position against the interests of the service. He illegally transferred immovable property valued at 15,000,000 and 10,000,000 Armenian drams, belonging to the police, to officers who did not require improved housing conditions, thereby causing severe consequences through negligence. Additionally, Vladimir Gasparyan illegally granted another piece of immovable property valued at 10,000,000 Armenian drams to a police officer, thus mismanaging property of significant value entrusted to him.
