Black Stork Registered in the Red Book Returned to Its Natural Habitat

On June 27, 2020, employees of the Environmental and Mining Inspection's Wildlife Control and Shirak Territorial Division returned a Black Stork, registered in the Red Book of Armenia, to its natural habitat near the Arpi Lake National Park's buffer zone.

Based on the professional opinion of researchers from the Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, which stated that the bird had fully recovered and completed its molting period, specialists ringed the black stork and released it at the same location where it was found.

It is noteworthy that the red book bird was discovered in the mentioned area in the autumn of 2019 with a wing injury, and it was promptly transferred to Yerevan for treatment, care, rehabilitation, and quarantine at the “Zoo Fauna Art” rehabilitation center.
