10,000 Coronavirus Testing Kits Arrive for Armenia
10,000 diagnostic tests acquired with financial support from the European Union through the World Health Organization (WHO) have arrived in Yerevan to support Armenia's response to the pandemic.
The tests have been obtained to assist the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, enabling the expansion of free diagnostic testing for citizens across the country for the new coronavirus disease.
This approach is in line with WHO recommendations to test all suspected COVID-19 cases to timely identify the disease and control its spread. With these WHO-certified tests, accurate results can be obtained in just 75 minutes.
This swift turnaround will save medical staff time and effort, reduce human errors, and enable testing of more citizens within a day.
To receive the diagnostic tests, the head of the European Union delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin, WHO representative Egor Zaitsev, Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan, and Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts visited the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.
The EU ambassador and WHO representative delivered the tests to the Ministry of Health as part of broader support aimed at preventing the spread of the new coronavirus disease in the country. The tests will be sent to the national laboratory, which conducts the majority of coronavirus testing in Yerevan and the regions.
