This was yet another tragedy that our society experienced due to the criminal-oligarchic system: Arman Babajanyan
Today marks the day of the death of military officer, Major, and military doctor Vahe Avetyan. According to the case materials, he was brutally beaten by Ruben Hayrapetyan's bodyguards on June 17, 2012. Independent MP Arman Babajanyan addressed this incident in a Facebook post.
The incident took place at the "Harsnakar" restaurant owned by Ruben Hayrapetyan, where Vahe Avetyan had gone to celebrate with a few friends. His friends were also doctors, who suffered brutal beatings as well but were fortunately able to survive. However, Vahe sustained severe brain injuries and fell into a coma from which he never recovered.
This was yet another tragedy that our society experienced due to the criminal-oligarchic system. Vahe Avetyan was one of many victims of violence, murder, suicide, humiliation, deception, and disenfranchisement. This list seems to have no beginning and, apparently, no end.
There would be no end if society did not decide to put a stop to all this, as there is no longer any hope that it can be done through someone else's efforts. At the same time, we all understand that society is very layered, and nothing is straightforward here, especially since we know how various "elites" have systematically degraded Armenian society, destroying its dignity and instilling a sense of inferiority and potential victimhood.
Eight years ago, we had yet another victim of all this, we had yet another grief, yet another tragedy. And today, we have no words to express our feelings,” the MP wrote.
He also noted that what happened to Vahe Avetyan was a matter of societal dignity, a question of the existence of society, and it is society that should have been pursuing the accountability of the culprits.
“This is not merely a question of legal accountability, as there are also moral responsibilities—those who created, established, reinforced, and institutionalized this system and cynically stated that "we are all responsible" for such tragedies.
On the other hand, yes, we are all responsible for such tragedies because we allowed scum to conquer the country like weeds, letting shame and cynicism overshadow everything and consume everything,” he emphasized.
Since the Velvet Revolution of 2018, what has been happening in our domestic political life, according to Babajanyan, is primarily a matter of societal dignity: either this breed is fundamentally annihilated or Armenia is.
“I am the first in the ranks of those who seek annihilation. Decide your rank,” he concluded.
