Geneva Conventions Implementation Report of Artsakh Distributed at the UN
The report of the Republic of Artsakh on the implementation of the provisions of the additional protocols to the Geneva Conventions of 1949 concerning the protection of victims of armed conflicts has been distributed as an official document at the United Nations (UN). The report has also been forwarded to the UN Secretary-General.
The report includes information on incorporating the provisions of the four Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols (1977) into the national legislation of the Republic of Artsakh, as well as information on raising awareness of international humanitarian law among military personnel, aimed at aligning the conduct of armed forces in wartime with the principles of international humanitarian law.
The Republic of Artsakh joined the aforementioned conventions and protocols in 1993 based on a decision by the republic's legislative body, the Supreme Council.
