This categorical call is akin to a death sentence: Armenian Restaurants Union responds to Arsen Torosyan
The Armenian Restaurants Union has responded to the statement made by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia today, in which he called for a halt to visits to cafes and restaurants.
The statement particularly mentions: “Today, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, called for an end to ‘cafe-restaurant visits’. Such a categorical statement from a government member seriously concerns representatives of our sector. Public catering enterprises operate under strict adherence to the anti-epidemic rules established by the commandant's office, while there is a wide range of preventive measures in place for those who do not comply, which have been strictly enforced until today.”
“For public catering businesses barely surviving amid a multiple decline in sales, such a categorical call resembles a death sentence, with the inevitable consequences of job losses for tens of thousands of people involved in the sector. We urge the relevant bodies of the Armenian government to urgently start discussions with representatives of our sector to find solutions to the created situation.”
It is reminded that today, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan made a post on his Facebook page urging to opt for a conscious lockdown instead of an enforced one.
