A scandalous video is circulating on the Turkish domain of the social media platform TikTok, featuring a man calling the azan (the Muslim call to prayer) at the Armenian Church of the Holy Cross on Akhtamar Island of Lake Van, reports ErmeniHaber.
The man calling the azan is apparently the same user who posted the video, identified as Büşra. The title of the video reads: “For a minute, the narrow walls of the church come to life.” The video has garnered around 37,000 likes and over 600 comments. It is worth noting that the video is not new, having been published on YouTube back in 2017, but it only appeared on TikTok a few days ago.
Furthermore, it should be emphasized that disrespect towards Christian shrines and the sentiments of believers is not a new phenomenon in Turkey.
