I Support the Implementation of Constitutional Reforms: Armen Sargsyan to EU Ambassadors

The President of the Republic, Armen Sargsyan, hosted the head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Victorin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France, Jonathan Lacôte, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany, Michael Johannes Banzhaf, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy, Vincenzo Del Monaco, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania, Inga Stanyte-Tolockiene. Deputy Foreign Minister Avet Adonts also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, President Sargsyan specifically addressed the situation created by the coronavirus, discussing a number of challenges including economic difficulties, food security issues, recent events in the Republic, and constitutional reforms. President Sargsyan responded to the diplomats' questions regarding these topics.

Speaking about constitutional reforms, President Sargsyan stated, “The Constitution must be balanced, based on mechanisms of checks and balances. I am pleased that the government has started work in this direction. I support the implementation of constitutional reforms,” he emphasized.

Taking the opportunity, the President expressed gratitude to international partners for supporting Armenia during difficult times. Noting that everyone is currently facing challenging times and that they will not end soon, the President highlighted the importance of mutual assistance, joint work, and efforts. “If we do not work together, we will limit our successes,” he underscored. “Thank you for our friendship.”
