Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Comments on Aliyev's Speech
Below we present the commentary of Anna Naghdalyan, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the speech made by the President of Azerbaijan during the opening of military unit N.
The commentary states: "The speech of the President of Azerbaijan during the opening of military unit N clearly indicates that the authorities of that country perceive the democratic changes occurring in Armenia as a threat to their power. It is evident that the prolonged rule of one family, which has secured Azerbaijan's leading positions in global corruption indices throughout history, along with the notorious laundromat, and the repression of their own people's freedom of speech and other liberties, provides ample grounds for a biased attitude towards the democratic changes taking place in Armenia.
We believe that the Aliyev dynasty, which seeks its legitimacy through inciting enmity among peoples by exploiting the conflict, should not exhibit hatred towards the authorities formed as a result of democratic processes in Armenia, but rather at the very least, accept that the Azerbaijani people also deserve democracy. We are confident that it is not inherited power, but rather authorities formed by the people and accountable to the people that can reconcile nations and contribute to regional peace and stability."
