Aliyev's Tongue Has Lengthened Due to Our Incompetent and Unpatriotic Government: Sergey Sargsyan's Response

The third President of Armenia and a hero of Artsakh, Sergey Sargsyan, has responded to the public statement made today by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev regarding the Republic of Armenia.

“Where have we reached? The despot of our neighbor, who has come to power by inheritance, Ilham Aliyev, whom someone who seized power in our country two years ago considers cultured and extols praises for, trusts so much that he prefers to hear the history of the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process from him. Today, he cynically declares that the entire history of Armenia's independence is a story of shame.

Do you understand the absurdity? The President of Azerbaijan speaks in the same vocabulary, characterizing the previous years of Armenia’s independence in the same way as Nikol Pashinyan does in his notorious speeches before the world from the UN podium, at the PACE plenary session, and at every possible opportunity. The dictator Aliyev is giving lessons on democracy to Armenia, defaming the army and our glorious army officers and generals, talking about violence against journalists and other blatant illegalities and corruption of the current authorities in Armenia.

It is not surprising that Aliyev can allow himself such statements; it is well known that he can intensely hate the glorious Armenian army due to the heavy and disgraceful defeats his country has faced in war, and he can detest the second and third Presidents of Armenia, as well as the generals of the army. This has long ceased to be a novelty. His stance was entirely predictable given Nikol Pashinyan's incessant talk of glorifying his incompetent leadership and referring to his state as ‘a completely failed state’ before the world.

Regarding Ilham Aliyev, he knows very well that when discussing corruption and embezzlement in Armenia, he and Nikol Pashinyan are the ones doing the talking, while international investigative journalists, organizations, and reputable newspapers discuss and write about Panama Papers linking him to scandalous disclosures, the ‘Azerbaijani laundromat’, the enormous wealth acquired by his family on all four corners of the world, bribing European lawmakers, and many other scandalous revelations.

Aliyev's tongue has lengthened due to our incompetent and unpatriotic government; however, he must remember well that these, like his regime, are transient, while the Republic of Armenia, with its victorious army and numerous heroic Armenian sons, is always prepared to deliver the next resounding slap to the boasting aggressor. And he shouldn't forget that in the not-so-distant future, when national and capable forces return to power in Armenia, the international community will again compel him to recognize the independence of the Republic of Artsakh,” Sargsyan’s statement reads.
