Constitutional Amendments Also Apply to Constitutional Court Vice President Alvina Gyulumyan: Badasyan

The constitutional amendments also apply to the Vice President of the Constitutional Court, Alvina Gyulumyan. This was stated today, June 25, by Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan during a conversation with journalists, reacting to Gyulumyan's claim that these amendments do not concern her.

"It is evident that they do apply. Any interpretation of the text regarding changes to the Constitution leads to a single conclusion that they are applicable. It is indicated there that it pertains to individuals who have served for a total of 12 years as members or judges, and the thought continues. Moreover, the will of the constitution is also expressed in the justifications for the amendments, and there is a very detailed reference to continuity and other circumstances in that regard," the minister said.

Commenting on the dispute or the protection of rights, Badasyan noted: "Naturally, any individual, including Ms. Gyulumyan, is free to exercise the right to a fair trial." In response to a question about whether he is concerned that Constitutional Court member Vahe Grigoryan has not worked for a year since being elected as a judge, Badasyan stated that he is indeed concerned if a public official is not working.
