The Presidents of the European Council and European Commission Send Joint Letter to Armenian Prime Minister
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, have sent a joint letter to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan. This was reported by the press office of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
The letter states, in particular:
“Dear Prime Minister, allow us to express our gratitude for your congratulations addressed to us on the occasion of Europe Day. The European Union and Armenia take this opportunity to emphasize the close relations they have established within the frameworks of the Eastern Partnership and the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement. The European Union and Armenia have done this based on strong common values, including democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights. We encourage you to continue your reform activities on this solid foundation.
This year, unfortunately, we have to face the challenge of the coronavirus, a calamity that affects us all. We learned that you personally contracted the virus, and we are glad that you have recovered. This is a moment for solidarity and international cooperation. The European Union has already provided concrete support to Armenia to address this crisis by mobilizing 92 million euros from European funds, and the European Union will continue to engage for the benefit of your country. This support addresses not only the health aspects of the crisis but also its social and economic dimensions. Together, we can emerge from this crisis stronger, building a better future.”
