No Charges Filed Against Aram Vardanyan, Lawyers State
Aram Vardanyan, known by the nickname "Vstrech'i Aper," has not been charged as a suspect under Articles 169.1 and 325, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. This was stated by Vardanyan's lawyers, Lusine Sahakyan and Yervand Varosyan, in response to reports published in the newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" suggesting that the investigative committee had issued a statement regarding a Yerevan resident who allegedly provided false information related to the paternity of a child under three years old.
In their statement, they emphasized, "Today, the investigative committee released a message, which was connected to Aram Vardanyan by the website of Haykakan Zhamanak. We point out that, according to the released message, a decision was made to involve the mentioned individual as a suspect under Articles 169.1 and 325, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. As the defenders of Aram Vardanyan, we cannot disclose to whom the message refers, as no such charges have been brought against Vardanyan, and no such decision has been provided."
They further commented on the ongoing criminal proceedings against Vardanyan, stating, "It is important to note that these are being conducted in violation of all moral and legal boundaries. Remember, the same Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper had previously linked Aram Vardanyan's name with political processes. Despite the fact that these claims were fabricated and Vardanyan declared so, the developments during his criminal prosecution are directly related to political processes. One simply needs to follow the timeline of attacks on his home, searches, and charges against him."
Concerning the artificial prosecutions he faced or may face, they asserted, "All such allegations have been denied, are being denied, and will continue to be denied in the future. This legal chaos cannot last forever."
