Erebuni Medical Center Clarifies Use of 'Death' in Patient's Medical History
The Erebuni Medical Center has provided clarification regarding the use of the term 'death' in the medical history of a living patient.
The statement reads: 'One of the Facebook users published a video last night, prompting us to report the following: The patient was admitted to the Erebuni Medical Center's intensive care unit with a dissecting aortic aneurysm. The patient's condition was stabilized in the intensive care unit, and a vascular surgeon was invited. Considering the severe somatic conditions, it was decided not to proceed with the surgery, as the intervention could be incompatible with the patient's life. The patient's relatives declined further treatment, and the patient was discharged.'
Regarding the COVID-19 test, we note that a sample is taken from every patient admitted to the Erebuni Medical Center, which is sent to the laboratory of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. The test result was received the next day, indicating a positive result. This means that the patient already had a novel coronavirus infection upon admission.
As for the mention of the word 'death' in the medical history, we clarify that it was a typographical error caused by the intensive overload in the intensive care unit. The same document also specifies the health condition of the patient upon discharge from the medical center.'
