Officials Displaying Disrespect Towards Subordinates Will Face Strict Response: President of Artsakh
On June 23, President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, met with the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan. This was reported by the President's office.
Harutyunyan noted that he has reviewed the Human Rights Defender's report on activities for 2019, as well as the annual report on the state of human rights and freedoms. He emphasized the role of the Human Rights Defender's institution in implementing human-centered reforms in several key sectors of the Republic.
Artak Beglaryan briefly presented some proposals contained in the annual report, including those related to the reform of public administration, public service, and the penitentiary system. He expressed hope that some of the nearly one hundred proposals would be included in the President’s upcoming published programs.
The Human Rights Defender highlighted the necessity for the Government to develop and implement a strategy for the protection of human rights.
The President responded to certain proposals and expressed willingness to take concrete steps toward addressing identified issues, pointing out directions for increasing the efficiency of the management system and enhancing the capabilities of public servants. Arayik Harutyunyan emphasized that high-ranking state officials who display unprofessional or disrespectful behavior towards citizens and their subordinates will face appropriate strict responses.
