US to Drop Eskimo Ice Cream Name to Avoid Offending Inuit
The American company Dreyer's has decided to drop the name of its signature ice cream, the chocolate-covered vanilla Eskimo Pie, to avoid offending the Inuit people. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
According to Dreyer's Chief Marketing Officer Elizabeth Marquez, the company is "committed to the cause of racial equality and finds the term to be derogatory." It has also been noted that the product's logo, which features an Inuit boy wearing a fur coat, will be subject to change.
