Today, the first plane carrying humanitarian aid, including medical supplies and equipment, arrived in Armenia from Serbia on a special flight by Air Serbia, with another one set to arrive tomorrow. The agreement for Serbia to provide substantial support to Armenia in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic was reached following phone conversations between Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

Recently, President Armen Sarkissian had a phone call with his counterpart Vučić, with whom he has a warm friendship. The presidents discussed the situation regarding the pandemic, and the Serbian president emphasized that his country is ready to assist Armenia. President Sarkissian conveyed to the Serbian side the list of necessary supplies provided by the Minister of Health of Armenia.

As part of the support in combating the pandemic, Serbia is supplying Armenia with 10 ventilation devices, 10 monitors to monitor patients' conditions, 500,000 surgical masks, 100,000 respiratory masks, 25,000 protective goggles, 25,000 medical protective suits, and other necessary supplies.

“During the phone call with President Armen Sarkissian, the President of Serbia offered his assistance, and today the first plane carrying humanitarian aid has already arrived,” said Emil Tarasyan, head of the President's Office, in a conversation with reporters. “The second plane will arrive tomorrow, again with medical supplies and equipment. What has arrived today and will arrive tomorrow is of primary importance for Armenia's healthcare system.”

During the phone conversation with Aleksandar Vučić, President Sarkissian expressed his gratitude to both the President of Serbia and the Serbian people for providing assistance to our country.

Emil Tarasyan added that President Sarkissian continues to utilize his partnerships and personal connections to secure new support options for Armenia in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The Office of the President is constantly in contact with government partners, and the list of required equipment and supplies is regularly updated with the Ministry of Health.

“This offer of assistance was made weeks ago when our countries' presidents had a phone conversation. They have a very warm and close relationship, and I am pleased that we already have results,” said Tatiana Tsvetkovich, Chargé d'Affaires of Serbia in Armenia. “Another plane carrying humanitarian aid will arrive in Armenia tomorrow. I believe this support will be beneficial for Armenia.”
