I Haven't Seen the Footage, So I Can't Make a Personal Judgment: Mirzoyan on the Incident of Police Violence Against Journalists

Any attempt to obstruct journalists' activities will be condemned, said the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, during a press briefing with journalists, referring to the incident of police violence against journalists in front of the NSS building.

Mirzoyan noted that he is not familiar with the details of the incident. “Honestly, I haven't seen any footage, nor have I seen reports of complaints, but I have also heard opinions that nothing significant has been done. I repeat, I haven’t seen the footage and I cannot make a personal judgment,” he stated.

In response to the comment from an injured journalist, who pointed out that the police clearly saw journalists working in that area with appropriate equipment, the Speaker of Parliament said, “The circumstances are very significant. Perhaps at the moment you were conducting your interview, there was a warning and a request to clear that area, perhaps reference was made to the ban on holding gatherings under emergency conditions. I don’t know; the details are essential.”
