UEFA Clarifies Dates for Various International Tournaments
The UEFA Executive Committee held a remote meeting at the UEFA headquarters, during which they discussed changes to the formats of club and national team tournaments organized by UEFA, as well as new schedule dates. This was reported by the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA).
The qualification phase for the UEFA U-21 European Championship is currently ongoing. The remaining matches are scheduled for September, October, and November 2020. Armenia's U-21 national team is placed in the first qualification group and will compete against the national teams of Sweden (twice), Iceland, and Luxembourg.
The qualifying playoff matches for the 2022 UEFA Futsal European Championship will take place between November 2 and 11, 2020. The Armenian national futsal team will compete against Bulgaria in the playoff phase.
The qualification phase for the U-19 European Championship, which is similar to the UEFA Nations League, has been postponed. Consequently, the qualification phase for the 2021/2022 UEFA U-19 European Championship will proceed under the previous format. Armenia's U-19 national team is in the 11th qualification group, where they will compete against the national teams of the Netherlands, Serbia, and San Marino.
The dates for the qualification phase of the UEFA U-17 European Championship remain unchanged, with matches scheduled for September to November 2020. Armenia's U-17 team is included in the 12th qualification group, competing against the U-17 teams of Serbia, Denmark, and Latvia.
The qualification round for the next season's Champions League will start on August 8. The winners of the preliminary, first, second, and third qualification rounds will be determined through single matches, while the winners of the final playoff round will be decided over two matches. The hosting team will be determined by a draw.
The winner of Armenia's Premier League for the 2019/2020 season will enter the qualification from the first round (Preliminary round on August 8 and 11, First qualification round on August 18/19, Second qualification round on August 25/26, Third qualification round on September 15/16, playoff on September 22/23 and 29/30, Group stage on October 20/21 and 27/28, November 3/4 and 24/25, and December 1/2 and 8/9).
The qualification for the next season's Europa League will commence on August 20. Teams will determine the winners of the preliminary, first, second, and third rounds through single matches, while the playoff winners will be determined over two matches. The home team will be decided by a draw.
As a result of the 2019/2020 season in the Armenian Premier League, three Armenian clubs will have the opportunity to participate in the tournament (Preliminary round on August 20, First qualification round on August 27, Second qualification round on September 17, Third qualification round on September 24, playoff on October 1, Group stage on October 22 and 29, November 5 and 26, December 3 and 10).
Additionally, the mini-tournaments for the qualifying phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the 2020/2021 season will be held from October 7 to 13, 2020, with the participating team being the winner of Armenia’s Women’s Football A League from the 2019/2020 season.
The issue of holding football matches with spectators was also discussed at the UEFA Executive Committee meeting. It was decided to further discuss this matter in July.
