Quarantine Declared Again in Beijing

A new outbreak of COVID-19 has begun in China's capital, Beijing. According to the BBC's Russian service, city authorities have forced all businesses to send their employees into a 14-day quarantine.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, the epicenter of the virus has become one of Beijing's wholesale markets, where the coronavirus has been confirmed in 79 individuals. China's Vice Premier Sun Chunlan has stated that the risk of virus transmission is very high, considering the market's size, density, and the intensity of human movement in and out.

The market occupies an area of 107 hectares and supplies food to northern regions of China. Until this recent outbreak, Beijing had not recorded any new COVID-19 cases for 55 days.
