SASMT Suspends Operations of Nearly 50 Businesses for 24 Hours

In the framework of combating the coronavirus (Covid-19) and monitoring the implementation of the decisions issued by the Prime Minister, the State Food Safety Inspectorate (SASMT) has today, June 11, 2020, suspended the operations of nearly fifty businesses for 24 hours.

Following intensified inspections by SASMT inspectors in retail and wholesale sales networks, production facilities, and public catering establishments, the main violations identified included failure or improper usage of masks and gloves by staff, allowing customers to enter without temperature checks, inadequate record-keeping regarding temperature checks and disinfection, absence of designated and sealed bins for masks and gloves near entrances, and most commonly, failure to maintain social distancing at tables and within sales networks.

Today, a citizen with diabetes working at a store in the city of Masis, Ararat Province, was informed and warned that they were in a high-risk zone for infection and were advised to avoid contact with others and stay home as much as possible.

Heightened monitoring continues across the country, and representatives of the food safety supervising body urge business operators to strictly adhere to safety norms established to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, providing consultation, giving instructions, and ensuring compliance.
