Four Sewing Workshops Suspended in Artik and Gyumri
In Gyumri and Artik, the operations of four sewing workshops—"Sastex," "Svestex," "Chekharminvest," and "Volium Group"—were suspended within two days, with the first two being suspended for 72 hours.
Previously, during surprise inspections, the Health and Labor Inspectorate of Armenia recorded violations of safety norms set by the Armenian government at these enterprises. In particular, there was an inadequate number of covered trash bins, incomplete compliance with requirements for temperature checks, and deficiencies in organizing breaks in a separately ventilated area. Additionally, there were no separate changing rooms for work clothes and personal attire, and there was no designated person responsible for preventing the spread of coronavirus.
Adhering to the established norms for preventing the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) is crucial in these large-scale sewing enterprises to mitigate public health risks. The Health and Labor Inspectorate again urges strict compliance with these norms and reminds that administrative liability is imposed for violations. In cases of repeated violations or more serious risks, the penalties will be more severe.
