COVID-19 Confirmed in Two Employees at Yerevan-Kentron Prison: Kocharyan's Attorney
Aram Vardevanyan, one of the attorneys for Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan, posted on Facebook announcing that two employees at the Yerevan-Kentron prison have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Dear colleagues, a few weeks ago I reported that some employees at the Yerevan-Kentron prison were showing all symptoms of coronavirus infection. I am now officially announcing that at Yerevan-Kentron prison, where only 48 employees have been tested among staff, detainees, and convicted persons, the results for two employees are positive.
Do you remember that some insisted there was no infection in prisons, especially in Yerevan-Kentron? There are now officially two confirmed cases in Yerevan-Kentron prison… There have been nine cases reported at the Vardashen prison, and I will not burden further with cases recorded in other prisons.
In such circumstances, where detention is not changed for those at least in a risk group in a timely manner, the competent authorities not only devalue but also destroy the rule of law…” wrote Kocharyan's attorney.
