Citizens Voluntarily Surrender Large Numbers of Rifles and Pistols to the Police
The police continue their active work in uncovering illegally held weapons and ammunition among the population, conducting explanatory work in this context as well. As a result of this explanatory work, on June 10, a resident of the Armavir region called the Vagharshapat police department and reported that he had left a factory-numbered assault rifle and 41 cartridges near a building on the road to Voskahat village.
The "Kalashnikov" and the cartridges were recovered. On the same day, another resident of Armavir left a shortened stock, unmarked "Kalashnikov" assault rifle near one of the buildings in the city of Ejmiadzin and called the police, stating that he wanted to surrender the firearm to the authorities.
One Armavir resident voluntarily surrendered a revolver, an "F 1" type grenade, and more than 40 cartridges of various calibers at the Armavir police department, which he found while cleaning his basement. A 69-year-old man from the village of Dalarik of Armavir region voluntarily surrendered a "TOZ" type firearm, with two magazines, grenades, and over 250 cartridges of various calibers, which he claimed belonged to a deceased friend.
A 36-year-old resident of the village of Akhnalich voluntarily surrendered a homemade shotgun, grenades, and over 50 cartridges of various calibers at the police department in Metsamor. According to him, the weapons and ammunition belonged to his deceased father, which he found while repairing the barn roof.
A man living in the village of Jrapi in Shirak region brought an unmarked assault rifle and 16 cartridges with a caliber of 7.62 mm to the Ani police department on June 10. According to the man, the firearm was found in the barn and belonged to his deceased father.
Thanks to the explanatory work of the police in Artik, a resident of the village of Panik voluntarily surrendered a "Kalashnikov" tank gun and more than 50 cartridges of various calibers, which he found while cleaning the barn. He stated that they belonged to his deceased father.
A factory-numbered "Kalashnikov" assault rifle was voluntarily surrendered at the Kumayri police department by a woman residing in Gyumri, who stated that the firearm belonged to her deceased brother. On June 10, a 34-year-old man from the Jrarat neighborhood of Hrazdan voluntarily surrendered a homemade firearm, an "F 1" type grenade with a detonator, and more than 50 cartridges of an assault rifle, which he found on the roof of his house.
A 62-year-old resident of the village of Vardakar voluntarily surrendered an unmarked "Carabin" type rifled firearm, a cannon shell, grenades of various types, and over 150 cartridges of various calibers at the Ararat police department, which, according to him, belonged to his deceased brother.
As a result of the explanatory work of the Bzom police department, two cases of voluntary surrender of illegal weapons and ammunition were recorded on June 10. A 63-year-old man residing in Vanadzor voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered shortened stock rifle, grenades, detonators, and so on, which he claimed belonged to his deceased friend. Another man in Vanadzor also voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered revolver, a switchblade knife, and cartridges of various calibers, stating that he found them in the barn.
A 66-year-old resident of Vanadzor voluntarily surrendered an unmarked pistol with unreadable factory numbers and 20 cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber at the Tarnos police department, which belonged to his deceased brother. A 64-year-old man from the village of Shenavan voluntarily surrendered a revolver and 29 cartridges of 5.45 mm caliber at the police department in Spitak, stating that they belonged to his deceased brother.
Cases of voluntary surrender of illegal weapons and ammunition have also been recorded in subdivisions of the Gegharkunik regional police department. A resident of the village of Karmir voluntarily surrendered various types of grenades with their detonators, a factory-produced revolver, and cartridges at the Gavar police department. Another resident of the Hazarat village also voluntarily surrendered a homemade revolver, different types of grenades, and cartridges of various calibers again at the Gavar police department.
A factory-numbered "TOZ" type firearm and cartridges were voluntarily surrendered at the Martuni police department by a 55-year-old resident of the village of Tsovasar, claiming he found them on the roof of his house. Grenades, a homemade grenade, and cartridges of various calibers and firearms were also voluntarily surrendered at the Martuni police department by a 62-year-old resident of Martuni, stating they belonged to his brother.
A 37-year-old man living in Kapan voluntarily surrendered a "Mosina" firearm and more than 200 cartridges of various calibers at the Kapan police department, which he claimed belonged to his deceased father. A man living in Yerevan, who is a participant in the Artsakh Liberation War, voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered revolver at the Erebuni police department.
