1.7 Million Dram and $8,000 Stolen from Gyumri Apartment: Details

On June 7, around 8 PM, a resident of Krimyan Hayrik Street in Gyumri reported to the Kumayri police station that hours earlier, taking advantage of their absence from home, thieves had broken the kitchen window, entered the house, and stolen 1.7 million drams and $8,000 from the bedroom closet.

Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene to investigate the area of the home. Search operations commenced. The criminal investigators conducted operational inquiries to identify potential eyewitnesses, checking and dismissing various hypotheses.

On June 9, acting on received information, police summoned a woman living on Shirakatsy Street in Gyumri, and during a personal search, gold jewelry and $3,700 were discovered.

Further actions revealed that the following day after the burglary, the money and jewelry were handed over to her by her 36-year-old son, who had been previously convicted and released on amnesty in 2018.

Thanks to the explanatory work of the police, the suspect presented himself at the Kumayri police station and was arrested around 10 PM on the same day. Circumstances are being clarified. Efforts are underway to locate the remaining stolen items. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
