How a 96-Year-Old Grandfather Survived Coronavirus by ‘Fooling’ His Family

96-year-old Serosh (Seryozha Stepanyan) from Ddmashents is feeling great after recovering from coronavirus, and his spirits are high. His son, Vanik Stepanyan, shared this with ArmLur.am.

“We can’t keep him at home. He has ten cows, twenty sheep, and cultivates a hectare of potatoes. My brother and I asked him to sell some cows, and after a while, he told us he sold them and they were gone. Later, when he tested positive for the virus, he was taken to the hospital, and my brother called to say – ‘Man, guess what happened, there’s a cow in the barn!’ (laughs – S.H.)… He fooled us!” His son recalls with joy about the humorous and interesting personality of 96-year-old Serosh Stepanyan.

According to his son, Serosh did not want to be hospitalized. “The interesting thing was that grandfather didn’t want to go; he resisted – even once, the ambulance came to take him, and he had removed his clothes and got into bed, insisting he was fine and wouldn’t go. But eventually, they managed to take him.”

Grandfather Serosh received treatment at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Medical Center, where he spent more than ten days without any accompanying illnesses.

In a conversation with ArmLur.am, Vanik Stepanyan proudly mentioned that his father was the joy of the hospital. “They had a hard time convincing him to stay; he said, ‘I’ll escape, I’m not staying!’ Grandpa was the happiness of the whole hospital. He never coughed, grumbled for a couple of days, then his breathing opened up. At his age, he can comfortably drink two bottles of vodka, and when you come to the village, he’ll treat you to vodka. Until you drink, he won’t even talk to you!”
