George Floyd Laid to Rest
George Floyd, an African American who died under the knee of a police officer, was laid to rest in Houston, where he grew up. His wife and daughter live there. Presidential candidate Joe Biden sent a tribute message that was displayed during the farewell ceremony. According to Biden, it is time for racial justice. He promised to fight against "systemic violence that still impacts American life."
In the final weeks of his life, Floyd was recovering from the coronavirus, which he learned about in early April. His roommates told the New York Times that after his recovery, Floyd spent more time with his girlfriend and hadn’t visited them for several weeks.
