Armen Sarkissian Conducts a Working Discussion with Healthcare Experts
To discuss the situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the country, the measures taken to prevent and overcome it, as well as the existing opportunities, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian initiated a working discussion today. The meeting included Health Minister Arsen Torosyan, scientific director of 'Arabkir' Medical Center and former Health Minister Ara Babloyan, rector of Yerevan State Medical University and former Health Minister Armen Muradyan, director of 'Nork' Infectious Diseases Center Mher Davidi, director of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention Artavazd Vanyan, head of the thoracic surgery department at 'St. Grigor Lusavorich' Medical Center Hovhannes Sarkavagyan, director of 'Astghik' Medical Center Asatur Asatryan, and head of the cardiovascular surgery department of the same center Mihir Susanyan.
President Sarkissian emphasized that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss three main issues with responsible representatives of the healthcare sector and prominent experts: the current situation related to the pandemic and upcoming actions, issues related to the management of the healthcare system, and what the President of the Republic and the presidential institution can do to support the resolution of these issues and overcoming the pandemic.
Additionally, the President deemed it appropriate for doctors and other healthcare workers to be awarded state honors on the occasion of Healthcare Worker Day on June 21. He suggested that the Health Minister raise this issue in the government.
