Strict Monitoring and Implementation of Tough Measures Will Continue: Police Chief Arman Sargsyan
The police are conducting specific measures regarding public safety. This was stated by the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Sargsyan, during a press briefing after the session of the commandant's office, noting that raids are being conducted in several administrative districts of Yerevan, assessing the likelihood of repeated violations.
"Raids are being conducted in cooperation with supervisory bodies. All inspections are carried out on the principle of surprise. Since the declaration of the legal regime following the state of emergency in Armenia, the police have drawn up 20,742 administrative violation protocols. Yesterday, police units compiled 931 administrative protocols, mainly related to citizens and drivers not wearing masks," the police chief informed.
Addressing the incident that occurred yesterday at the 'Maymandar' market in the Ararat region, Arman Sargsyan said, "At the 'Maymandar' market in the village of Gay, Ararat region, citizens resisted the police's requests and refused to comply with the commandant's decisions, engaging in hooliganism. A criminal case has been initiated and transferred to the Investigative Committee. Police units are also working to identify and locate these individuals. Over thirty citizens have been taken into custody today."
The police chief also noted that strict monitoring will continue and that if similar incidents recur, tough measures will be implemented.
