Fewer Deaths Recorded in Armenia in First Half of 2020 Compared to 2019, Says Prime Minister
The COVID-19 pandemic situation in Armenia continues to escalate, with 515 new cases reported yesterday. This number was incomprehensible to me in any way, as we have examined and reexamined the anti-epidemic rules set by the commandant several times, and we have no doubt that adherence to these rules should lead to a significant reduction in new COVID-19 cases. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press briefing.
Speaking about the reasons for citizens' violations of the anti-epidemic rules, Pashinyan noted, “As a result of analyzing the situation, I have noted that we are dealing with a mirror image of the situation established during the revolution in 2018.”
The Prime Minister also mentioned that fewer deaths have been recorded in Armenia in the first six months of 2020 compared to 2019. “Moreover, in May 2020, there were 320 fewer deaths recorded in the Republic of Armenia,” said Pashinyan.
