The Prosecutor's Luxurious Villa: Investigations Could Start Right from Him - 'Zhoghovurd'

'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports: 'Yesterday in the National Assembly, during discussions about the activities of the Prosecutor General's Office in 2019, MPs also inquired about the process of confiscating illegal property, regarding which a separate department is to be established within the Prosecutor's Office. Naturally, 'Zhoghovurd' also attempted to ask Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan about this issue, but it seems that Davtyan decided to maintain an aggressive stance towards our media outlet, leaving questions unanswered or responding in a different tone.

Quoting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement about the remnants of Serj Sargsyan's system, we simply inquired whether he perceives himself as a member of the former regime. In response, he retorted, 'Think about whom you are asking, and how you are asking, before posing the question.'

Finally, we asked whether he does not believe that the illegal confiscation process should start with him, considering that he built a villa in Davitashen during his tenure. The latter responded: 'You will start.'

It is worth noting that the discussion concerns the land allocated to him in the Ajapnyak administrative district, which was raised in the parliament by MP Arman Babajanyan in 2019, showing a photo of the prosecutor's villa, claiming that within two years, the prosecutor has constructed such a villa worth approximately half a million US dollars.

Of course, after this, the Prosecutor General's Office attempted to deny that this villa is worth half a million dollars, claiming that Davtyan took out a loan of 25 million drams together with his father to jointly build the aforementioned villa. And now, it is truly time: if the prosecutor has presented all the data accurately, then investigations could very well start right from him.'
