VIDEO: Our goal is not to fine anyone, but to ensure that the rules are followed, says Pashinyan
After the session of the commandant's office, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a briefing, which was also attended by Haik Antonyan, clinical director of the Infectious Diseases Branch of the Shengavit Medical Center, and Rouzanna Durgaryan, director of Polyclinic No. 13 in Yerevan.
According to the Prime Minister, despite a decrease of 209 in the number of people infected with the coronavirus compared to the previous day, our assessment of the epidemiological situation does not change. The previous day, 251 positive cases were recorded. We have also experienced such a decrease during this period, when after 452 cases on May 25, the next day, May 26, there were 289 cases, after which the cases began to rise again: 372, 460.
“What I mean is that we need to continue monitoring the situation to find out whether today's decrease has changed our situation in any meaningful way or not,” said the Prime Minister.
The strict adherence to anti-epidemic rules continues to be a necessity. At the same time, according to the Prime Minister, it should be emphasized that these rules will be necessary in the coming year. The fact that the rules are not being followed at an appropriate level is evidenced by the administrative violation reports being drawn up.
The police have prepared 1,300 administrative violation reports in 3 days, which mainly relate to violations of the mask-wearing rules. Inspection bodies have submitted a proposal to the commandant's office to suspend the activities of 87 organizations, and their activities have been halted.
Family members must wear masks in the car, as according to established criteria, a car is also considered a closed space, which is indeed the case. Even when conducting outdoor trade, according to the Prime Minister, both the seller and the buyer must wear masks.
Today, the country's coronavirus intensive care units are operating under severe strain. The number of seriously and critically ill patients is high. As of yesterday, the health condition of 358 patients is assessed as serious, and that of 58 patients as extremely serious. 15 people are connected to a mechanical ventilation device.
“I want to comment once again on the slogan 'Wear a mask, save lives.' Today, many young people are guided by the mindset that they are young and do not have health issues, so they believe the coronavirus is unlikely to pose a major problem for them. But this does not mean that their infection will not take lives. They can infect another young person, and it can have a chain reaction. They may infect their parents, grandparents. Today we have had 7 new deaths,” stated Nikol Pashinyan during the commandant's office meeting. He noted that diabetic patients and those with high blood pressure suffer severely from the coronavirus, and these diseases are widespread in Armenia.
