Over 100 Armenians at Bagratashen Checkpoint Prepare to Take Extreme Measures

Approximately 130 Armenian citizens holding Russian citizenship, who have been stranded at the Bagratashen checkpoint for an extended period, are unable to enter the Russian Federation. This was reported by SHAMSHYAN.com.

In a conversation with a reporter from the outlet, the citizens stated that representatives from the Tavush regional police department met with them today and informed them that they would not be allowed to cross the border. “The police explained to us that Armenia is not authorized to resolve this issue, and they said that our gathering here is pointless, and we must demand a solution to our problems from the Russian embassy in Armenia. We contacted the consul and reported that we have been here since yesterday, and that people have no means,” the citizens said. “The consul replied, ‘You knew the border was closed, you shouldn’t have come here.’ I explained that we have been in Armenia for 3-4 months and had never approached the border, but even today we have no opportunity… They did not provide any answer, and when it came to offering us assistance, they said they could not help us in any way.”

The citizens indicated that they plan to block the roads leading to the border starting tomorrow until their issue is resolved.
