Important News for Armenian Citizens Residing in South Korea

The Embassy of Japan in Armenia has issued a statement regarding the situation for Armenian citizens residing in South Korea who hold a long-term entry permit.

It is important to notify all foreign nationals living in South Korea, especially those with long-term entry permits, that the South Korean government has made a decision in the framework of combating COVID-19. This decision mandates that all foreigners wishing to temporarily leave South Korea and return must apply in advance to the territorial office of the immigration service for a re-entry permit.

Failure to apply in advance before leaving the country will result in the loss of their current status, and they will have to obtain a new entry permit to return to South Korea. Additionally, even if they obtain the appropriate permit, they are required to undergo a medical examination at least 48 hours before returning to Korea and present the relevant certificate or acknowledgment to the immigration officer upon arrival.

The medical examination document must be in English or Korean and signed by the examining physician and an authorized representative of the medical institution. It must include information regarding the date of examination, whether the citizen has had symptoms such as fever, cough, headache, breathing difficulties, or other related symptoms.

This new regulation will come into effect on June 1 of this year.
