Several Participants of the Government Protest Were Detained, Including Actor Sargis Grigoryan

Police recently detained three individuals in front of the government building, where restaurant owners, employees, hosts, and event organizers were protesting. Among those detained were actor Sargis Grigoryan and Armen Mirzoyan for not complying with the state of emergency requirements.

Prior to the detentions, Sargis Grigoryan spoke with reporters, stating, "Many restaurants and event organizers have taken on debts because they knew weddings would be taking place during the summer. Now they are under enormous debt. If the restrictions are being lifted, why are we still at home? How long are we supposed to stay at home?" This was shared by Grigoryan during the protest in front of the government on May 20.

Restaurant owners, employees, and hosts are requesting permission to operate as they continue to face financial difficulties. Grigoryan added, "I received 68,000 drams for three months. I understand the situation, but many more dangerous sectors have opened. If this lasts a long time, how long will we remain at home? Our work is also seasonal; if we don't work now, we will face serious problems by next summer."

Also present at the protest were MPs Ani Samsonyan, Anna Kostanyan, and Gevorg Gorgisyan from the Bright Armenia faction.
