Rifles, Pistols, Grenades: Voluntary Surrender of Weapons and Ammunition to Police Stations
A 46-year-old resident of the village of Rya Taza in the Aragatsotn province voluntarily surrendered a factory-numbered "Kalashnikov" rifle, magazines, and 71 rounds of various calibers to the police department of Aragats following explanatory work by the department's officials. According to the man, the weapons belonged to his deceased father and were found while cleaning the roof.
On May 19, thanks to explanatory work by the Yerevan New Nork police department officials, a 28-year-old individual living in Avan voluntarily surrendered an "SS" pistol, which he reported belonged to his deceased grandfather.
With the help of the police's explanatory efforts in Artik, a 27-year-old man also brought a "TOZ" type smoothbore firearm and 52 rounds of ammunition to the department, stating that he found them while cleaning his basement; the weapons belonged to his deceased uncle.
A 43-year-old man from the Jrarat district of Hrazdan voluntarily surrendered an "F-1" type grenade, a rifle magazine, and over 90 rounds of various calibers at the Hrazdan police department. He claimed that the ammunition belonged to his deceased uncle.
As a result of the explanations provided by the criminal investigators of the Vagharshapat police department, a 41-year-old resident of Ejmiatsin voluntarily surrendered a shortened shotgun without a factory number, a rifle magazine, and over 130 rounds of various calibers, stating they belonged to his deceased brother.
A 46-year-old man from Yerevan voluntarily surrendered an "F-1" type grenade with a detonator and 123 rounds of different calibers to the Kanaker-Zeytun community police, thanks to their explanatory work. A 33-year-old man from Yerevan also voluntarily surrendered an illegal grenade and 169 rounds of various calibers, facilitated by the explanations from the department's criminal investigators.
Due to the actions of the Malatia community police, a 43-year-old man from Yerevan voluntarily surrendered a hunting shotgun, grenades, magazines, and 150 rounds of ammunition, which belonged to his deceased father.
A 53-year-old man from Maralik also voluntarily surrendered a handmade pistol, an "F-1" type grenade with a detonator, and 118 rounds of a rifle to the Ani police department, stating he found the illegal weapons while sorting household items, and they belonged to his father who passed away years ago.
Forensic examinations have been appointed. It is important to note that individuals who voluntarily surrender illegally held weapons and ammunition are exempt from criminal liability.
