The Competition Protection Commission has terminated the proceedings on the concentration of 'VEON Armenia' and 'UCOM'
The Republic of Armenia's Competition Protection Commission has made a decision to resume and then terminate the administrative proceeding initiated based on the application from 'VEON Armenia' and 'UCOM' closed joint-stock companies submitted on December 30, 2019.
'VEON Armenia' company filed a request with the Commission on May 6, 2020, stating that it withdraws its application and requests the termination of the initiated administrative proceedings.
Considering that the applicant has written to withdraw its application, the need to conduct the initiated administrative proceedings disappears, thus the Commission has decided to terminate the administrative proceeding.
It should be noted that the Commission's decision No. 122-A, dated March 19, 2020, suspended the timeline for conducting the administrative proceedings based on the application of these companies due to the state of emergency declared in Armenia.
The Commission has conducted a comprehensive study of the telecommunications sector within the framework of the proceedings, which will be published later.
