National Assembly Adopts Law Imposing 10,000 Dram Fine for Not Wearing Masks

The National Assembly adopted in the first reading, with a vote of 92 in favor, 0 against, and 0 abstentions, a bill that sets the fine for not wearing a mask in open spaces at 10,000 drams. Earlier, it was reported that the National Assembly convened an extraordinary session.

The agenda includes the bill on making amendments and additions to the Code of Administrative Offenses presented by the government of the Republic of Armenia. The main speaker, Deputy Minister of Justice Vahe Danielyan, stated while presenting the draft that it is proposed to fine those who violate the conditions for free movement declared during the state of emergency based on the extraordinary situation.

According to the draft, the penalty for not wearing masks in open areas is set at 100-200 times the minimum wage, while it is proposed to impose a fine equivalent to ten times the minimum wage, amounting to ten thousand drams for not wearing a mask.
